Experience in GLV

We arrived in Zhuhai, a city of 1.3 million people on Sunday 27 March. It was just a 75 minute fast ferry ride from Hong Kong and immediately we were impressed by the wide streets and feeling of space. In Kowloon our accommodation was in the Mon Kok area, full of bustling streets, tall buildings, and neon lights......

I woke up early Monday morning on February 14, 2005 exited about attending my first class in Gateway Language Village 's Total Immersion Chinese Program. I had been in China for just a year and had picked up a little Chinese, but felt that if I could speak more Chinese I would be able to better understand the country and the people. I had two weeks off from my English teaching job and decided rather than traveling around Asia during the Chinese New Year I would immerse myself in the Chinese language......

I found the Chinese Immersion Course challenging and interesting. I had never studied another language before and I knew absolutely no Chinese,so I found it hard work. Both the class teachers were skilled and supportive. They encouraged me to continue learning. Since attending the two week course I have continued to learn more Chinese and I feel that the GLV course has given me a good beginning.
